Oilfield Instrumentation and Advanced Building Services, its sister company, have delivered an offshore certified and meticulously customized super center for use in GoM deep water. The offshore building, which measures 20′ x 35′, houses MWD, cementing, mud logging and geologist spaces all under one roof.
Offshore operators are increasingly opting to combine various service units into a single offshore building. They recognize the logistical and financial benefits of doing so, not to mention the maximized space efficiency. Worth noting is that only one structure must be delivered to the rig, and only one offloading is necessary to transfer it to the rig, which all equates to minimal rig disruption, fewer logistical hassles, and significantly reduced costs. Because OI and ABS custom manufacture structures in-house, the super center concept promises to further set them apart from other building providers.
“Our custom design and in-house fabrication makes it possible for us to construct buildings of almost any size, suitable for any service combination, and to meet any certifications, including Norsok, ABS, DNV and more,” noted Ken Romero, vice president of Oilfield Instrumentation’s offshore buildings division.
