Oilfield Instrumentation increased the size of its rental fleet by adding more measure-while-drilling (MWD) labs to its offering of offshore buildings. The company is constructing 12 new certified labs with DNV 2.7-1, 2.7-2, and A60 fire rating, to meet the needs of deep water drillers. These labs are available for rent immediately.
Every offshore building constructed by OI is built to withstand extreme conditions and rugged use typical of offshore drilling operations, all while providing safety for its occupants. Inhouse manufacturing allows for complete customization of interior layout, from shelving and cabinet arrangement to colors and branding. Space can be maximized so the buildings will fit in the confined spaces common on drilling rigs.
Other completely customized buildings can be purchased from OI. As an example, the company has successfully designed and built MWD units to house the engineer in one section and mud loggers in another. Other layouts of MWD buildings may be created from scratch to the meet specialized needs of drillers. The entire production process for a custom-built MWD cabin / mud lab combination, from purchase order to delivery, can span as little as five weeks, a leading turnaround time for the oilfield building industry.
“Oilfield Instrumentation is bullish on deep water drilling for the Gulf of Mexico over the next three years and as such is making this investment in MWD offshore buildings available for rent,” said Ken Romero, vice president of OI’s Buildings division. “Whether through our rental fleet or outright customization services, OI can serve oil and gas companies’ needs for safe, certified engineering labs–onshore or in deep water–on very short notice.”
