Oilfield Instrumentation (OI) delivered the first of several BSEE-compliant chemical testing buildings for use on a major operator’s Gulf of Mexico deep water production rig.
Oilfield Instrumentation constructed the custom 8’x12’ buildings for the operator to provide a designated safe area for shakeouts and chemical testing with ventilation, storage and approved disposal features. As a result of precise and meticulous customizations, production workers will be able to safely perform the shakeouts and then analyses and profiles in an area with a best-in-class air extraction system for quick ventilation of fumes and pollutants.
The OI buildings also feature stainless steel counter tops, fire and LED gas detection systems, A-60 fire rating, and Class I, Division 1, and DNV 2.7-1 certifications. The buildings’ design allows technicians to test and monitor asphaltene stability, chemical residues, water chlorides, chemical performances and bacteria growth. The high performing ventilation system mitigates the use of hazardous materials, such as hydrochloric acid, xylene, methanol and hexane, in these production test procedures.
