Perhaps the most innovative part of OI-USA's EMS systems is our web interface. It was designed to work with OI-USA's new and legacy systems, including the EMS IV, the EMS III, and the Drill-Gas 1000 systems. It was developed in the Visual Studio.NET environment and uses Visual Basic.NET, ASP.NET, and Java technologies. It is unique to the oil industry for many reasons:
Ability for authorized users to remotely monitor multiple rigs simultaneously
All transmitted data is fully encrypted (128 bit)
End user has ability to set alarms and colors within the web environment
End user has ability to select data from any rig he is authorized to view
End user can view data numerically or in graphical (strip chart) format
Data updates can occur every second
Third party WITS data can be viewed in addition to OI-USA's data
Access to rig data can be controlled per user or per company

Remote Monitoring
The web system allows OIUSA to set up a "war room" for its clients that want it. These war rooms can be set up at the client location or use the existing facilities at OI-USA. Multiple rigs can be monitored by highly qualified technicians. Problems on the rig can often be caught and corrected before on-rig personnel are even aware there is a problem. Reporting duties can be outsourced to OI-USA, freeing up valuable time for personnel on the rig.
OIUSA hosts a 24/7 remote monitoring station for customer support.
Clients can set up a remote monitoring station to view all active rigs in a central location.
Security
The web system has three layers of security:
All accounts are set up per user and are password-protected.
Each user account is provided access ONLY to the customer's rigs.
All data is encrypted during transmission to prevent unwanted hacker intrusions on transmitted data.
User accounts are controlled by an OI-USA administrator. Accounts can quickly be set up and configured to meet the needs of the user.
Secure password-protected user accounts
Access to data is controlled by rig and by user role.
Data transmission is secured by 128-bit encryption. Data integrity is protected against corruption.
Global Access
The EMS Web system uses COTS (Commercial off-the-shelf) satellite systems. The satellite equipment is very compact and rugged. OI-USA can provide its customers with world-wide coverage capabilities.
Global access to rig data is available via satellite.
Rugged satellite antennas with optional Self-aiming capabilities.
Central repository for data storage provides remote access to live and historical data.
Near Real-time Display
The rig server can transmit data across the satellite network at a configurable time interval down to 1 second minimum time intervals. Authorized end users have the ability to simultaneously view multiple screens from multiple rigs. The web tools allow end users to set up the parameters they want to see with the alarm settings and colors they want. It also allows them to view data either numerically or in strip chart format.
View multiple screens
View multiple rigs simultaneously
Capable of to 3 second updates
Text and strip chart displays available
Report Generation
The EMS web system has many of the same reporting tools and features available with the rig-based thick client. Authorized users can create tabular, graphical, or industry standard reports from the web site. The reports are printable from within the web environment and can be saved or emailed to others.
Tabular or graphical reports
Reports can be viewed, printed, saved, or emailed.
Data can be scheduled to be automatically emailed to a list of addresses when using with our EMS III or EMS IV.
Personalization
The EMS web system allows end users to personalize their display, color, and alarm settings, similar to the rig-based thick client. Users can also create and store their own screens, which are available to them wherever and whenever they login to the OIUSA web site. The personalization settings are stored in the SQL Server database and are always available to each end user for reuse.
Real-time screens can be personalized for each user
Users can create and store their own screens Parameter selection and placement per screen
Multiple screens available per rig
User-defined alarms and colors per parameter
User preferences stored for reuse
Configurability (W.I.T.S.)
The EMS web system is highly configurable and works with new and legacy OIUSA data acquisition systems, including the EMS IV, the EMS III, and the Drill-Gas 1000 systems. It allows other third party applications to interact with it, providing an on-shore capability to view and store data that is not part of OI-USA's systems. Web system can receive data from:
EMS III
EMS IV
Drill - Gas 1000
Encoder Board
Any third party application sending WITS level 0 messages
